AUDIENCE GETS IN ON THE ACT AT DINNER THEATER

WALLOWA LAKE — Wallowa Lake Lodge will again be the scene of murder, mystery and mayhem on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 as the Joseph High School Thespians present their ninth annual audience participation dinner theater.

"You Only Live Once" is set in the German city of Berlin, at the famous Suisse Chocolat Hotel, the site of the biannual meeting of the International Society for the Advancement of Beauty Through Tissue Research.

The meeting is sponsored by a generous donation from the Marie Kay Cosmetics Company. The chairman of the board, Marie Kaye (Rajani Hansen), is present.

There, the famous Dr. Kennric Von Stupidstein (Zeke Hale) unveils the results of 25 years of research — a tissue creation named Francine (Haddie Carpenter) and a dog-like creature named Bobby (Andrew McFraland). Ian Baynes portrays Josef, the doctor's assistant.

Attending the meeting are transients Isabel (Emma Strickland) and Jimmy (Ritchie Meyer) who purport to be the American president's advisors on unemployment.

Also attending are Lois Lang (Erin Baynes), investigative reporter for the New York Daily News, and Babbette (Alex Borgerding), who befriends hapless Bobby.

At the first sound of gunshots who should appear on the scene but the famous Scotland Yard investigator, James Pond (Brannon Farner) and his genius cohort, Q-Tip (Kevin Graham).

Along with help from the hostess, Miss Penny Muny (Megan Garnett), the criminals are exposed and brought to justice.

Saturday and Sunday, as guests arrive at Wallowa Lake Lodge, they will receive a new identity and a dossier of clues.

Many participants will be asked to help Mr. Pond throughout the evening, so people need to be prepared to play along.

At the end of the evening, the guests are given a chance to identify the murderer(s).

Prizes will be awarded to the winners. A dinner with all the trimmings will add to the festivities.

Lodging and dinner theater packages are also available. Reservations must be made and prepaid by calling Wallowa Lake Lodge at 541-432-9821.
