COMMUNITY CHORUS STARTS UP TONIGHT
COMMUNITY CHORUS STARTS UP TONIGHT
|
The Grande Ronde Community Chorus will hold its first rehearsal tonight from 7 to 9 in Loso Hall room 123. The chorus, which has had up to 100 members and usually stays between 65 and 75 members, is open to anyone in the community and includes everyone from high school students up to people in their 70s. It basically is about three-fourths community members and one-fourth Eastern Oregon University students, who can take it for credit. The chorus practices each Thursday night during season, which usually involves the college's fall and winter terms and sometimes spring term, depending on what concerts are planned. A $15 fee to cover music costs is payable at the first rehearsal. For more information about the Community Chorus, call Peter Wordelman 962-3352. "It's also OK if some people have to come to practice next week for the first time," Wordelman said. Typically, about six to ten weeks of practice precede each concert. The chorus will prepare for a set of concerts with the Grande Ronde Symphony on Feb. 26, Feb. 28 and March 1. The concert will include the Mass in G by Franz Schubert and the "Triumphal Scene" from Verdi's "Aida." |
