DANCE ARTS STUDENTS PERFORM TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AT EOU
![]() Dance arts performances will bring more than 100 dancers to the stage, featuring energy, color and styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. Among dancers to take the stage next week are Savanna Tweit, Haley White, Kendall Kirkland, Cassidy Crites, Callahan Anderes, Andrea Lilly, Sierra Fetterly, Zach Sherrod, Lia Norem, Davis Furman, Edith Moore, Nicole Schiller, Devan Fromwiller, Kimber Case and Shay Henderson. (). Students of Dance Arts will perform a show called "Makes Me Wanna Dance" at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in McKenzie Theater on the campus of Eastern Oregon University. Tickets will be $6 at the door. "The two performances will be different but with the same theme of upbeat dance productions that will make you want to get up on your feet," said dance instructor Patricia Sandlin. The performances will bring more than 100 dancers to the stage, featuring energy, color and styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. Featured in this year's performances are the summit dancers coached and directed by Sandlin and Valarie Cannard. "They bring exciting hip-hop dances to the stage choreographed by Valarie," Sandlin said. Also featured will be student choreography performed by Jessie Glover and Dallas Whittington. Dance Arts dancers have participated over the past year in Arts for All, EOU basketball halftime shows, the Union County Fair and Celebrate La Grande, and have won numerous awards. Sandlin has taught dance in La Grande for more than 25 years. Her work has included EOU and La Grande High School musicals, artist in residency at local schools, local summer programs, the Cherry Fair in Cove, a touring company called Comotion and numerous recitals. This year she will participate again in the Bill Evans dance intensive in Port Townsend, Wash., and will work, along with her students, with the Portland Trail Blazer dancers.
