LA GRANDE - Just as the harvest carnivals and the first frosts signal the start of fall, Eastern Oregon University is preparing for its own autumn celebration. EOU's annual Homecoming and Oktoberfest weekend is set for Oct. 12-13 and organizers hope the celebration will bring alumni, students, faculty, staff and the community together as the university looks forward to a new academic year. Included in the lineup of events is the Mountaineer Booster Club Scholarship Scramble, which raises money for student athletes; the Alumni Honors Ceremony, recognizing individuals who make a difference in their communities; and the Homecoming Parade and Oktoberfest booths featuring local vendors and student organizations. "However you choose to participate, we hope Homecoming will signify renewal of the Mountaineer spirit we feel as alums and friends of EOU," said Karin Tsiatsos, Alumni Association board member and homecoming committee chair.
