INLAND NORTHWEST MUSICIANS GIVE OUTDOOR POPS CONCERT

UNION - Inland Northwest Musicians will call upon members from all five of its performing ensembles to present the final pair of concerts for their season. Inland Northwest Orchestra and Chorale, centered in Pendleton, Willow Creek Symphony and Singers, centered in Heppner and The Wallowa Valley Orchestra will join for "Outdoor Summer Pops" concerts in Union City Park on Saturday at 4 p.m. and in Stanfield City Park on Sunday, also at 4 p.m. The music will include a reprise of the world premiere performance of "Simple" Gifts by Lawrence Nash Groupe, which the Inland Northwest Orchestra presented in December 2006. The wide-ranging program will also encompass such pieces as "A Salute to the Big Bands," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Awake the Trumpet's Lofty Sound" and "You Are the New Day." The finale will invite the audiences to sing along with the musicians for "America the Beautiful." Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets, beverages, picnic lunches, etc., for a grand afternoon of outdoor musical enjoyment. All Inland Northwest Musicians concerts are free to the public with donations gladly accepted. |
