LOCAL ARTISTS EXHIBIT
 NORTHWEST ARTISTS SHOW WORK: "Remembrance Feather" by Teresa Henke (). JOSEPH- La Grande artists Joyce Grove, Katie Long and Linda M. Peterson along with Union artists Linda Gray McKean and Glennis Phillips; Cove artists Debra Otterstein and Eloise Stolsig; and Mary Aiwohi-Cisco and Sue Orlaske from Summerville will exhibit their works in the silver anniversary celebration of the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts in Joseph. Scheduled for the first weekend in June, at the foot of the beautiful Wallowa Mountains, this year's festival promises to be the best to date. Artists from throughout the Northwest will gather in Joseph Friday through Sunday for a weekend of art shows, music, art demonstrations, food, wine and gallery strolling. Established in 1982 to showcase the bronze sculpture for which Joseph is noted, the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts has grown to include art of all mediums. This year's show will feature the work of nearly a hundred artists working in mediums as diverse as bronze, oil paint, glass and fiber. The weekend begins with a special artist and patron's reception on Friday evening. A limited number of tickets to the reception are available for $25 each. Admission includes the opportunity to preview the art before the public viewing days as well as a special handpainted wineglass, free wine bar, hors d'oeuvres, live music and a chance to meet many of the artists. Award-winning artists will be honored as well as the festival judge and featured artist. The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday. Viewing of the art is free to the public on those days. All of the art is for sale. |
