MELLOW JAZZ SETS TONE FOR ORCHESTRA BENEFIT SUNDAY
|
A glass of wine, a little mellow music and the company of friends will form the basis of a Sunday evening event to benefit the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra. While guests sip wine and taste a variety of hors d'oeuvres, a jazz duo will perform during "A Symphony of Art on Sunday," from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foley Station. Lithographer Kat Galloway and potter Bob Jensen will exhibit their works, while Luke McKern on bass and Hideki Nokariya on guitar play mellow jazz. Commenting on the musical performance, Nokariya said, "We are playing mainly medium-tempo jazz standards which do not interrupt the party's mood." Tickets for the "symphony" are $14, and wine may be purchased by the glass. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are available at Sunflower Books, the Eastern Oregon University Bookstore, Foley Station and at the door. The orchestra, which performs four times a year, and the community chorus will present a joint concert Feb. 26 and March 1 in La Grande and Feb. 28 in Baker City. |
