JOSEPH - The time is January 1932. Prohibition is in full swing. Roosevelt will soon be elected into his first term as president. Elliot Ness and the Untouchables have had their heyday and the Lingbergh baby has just been kidnapped.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, Friday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 2, the Joseph High School Thespian Troupe will present Murder at the Majestic, an original audience participatory murder mystery dinner theater.

Wallowa Lake Lodge is transformed into the Majestic Ballroom in Atlantic City, where guests are watching a live radio broadcast while dining and enjoying a full evening of entertainment.

With suave radio host Bertrand Bernard (Casey Hayes) wooing listeners, Miss Thayda Beara (Ashly Neltropp), the goddess of silent films, makes her singing debut. Miss Beara is accompanied by famed Hollywood director “Lucky” Larry Lame (Sadra Beckman). Enthusiastic guests assemble in the Ballroom for a night of gaity. There is Madcap Mabel, professional party-goer (Lizzy Bright), Jewel Davenport from Atlanta, heiress to part of the DuPont millions (ShayLyn Massey) and Clara Bowie (Ali Garrett) who reveals little about her past. Francesca Ferraro (Tess DeLury), an aspiring actress, joins the festivities as does Miss Lily, (Britny Belcher) a famous ballerina from the Bolshoi. The murder, mystery and mayhem are guided by hospitality hostesses Queenie Swanson (Felicity Gross) and Ruby Tuesday (MacKenzie Hays).

The program begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. and guests are invited to arrive early to mingle with the other party goers. Thirties costumes or formal wear is encouraged. Dessert theater (Thursday night) tickets are $15 per person and dinner theater tickets (Friday and Saturday nights) are $30 per person. The cost includes gratuity and a $6 donation to the thespian troupe.

This is the 13th dinner theater offered at Wallowa Lake Lodge under the direction of thespian sponsor Pam Latta. Richelle Chitwood will be assisting with directing and costumes. Proceeds assist with the troupe’s spring trip to Ashland and the Oregon State Thespian Conference.

For reservations and more information, please contact the Wallowa Lake Lodge directly at 432-9821.
