SPECIAL GUESTS TO LEAD OLD-TIME CONTRA DANCE
SPECIAL GUESTS TO LEAD OLD-TIME CONTRA DANCE
|
A guest caller from Moscow, Idaho, and a trio from Sandpoint, Idaho, will be in town Saturday for the next Northeast Oregon Folklore Society regular old-time contra dance. Guest caller Mitchell Frey will lead the dances. Frey will present the best from his extensive repertoire of fun contras and squares. Live music will be provided by Out of the Wood. The trio excels in the ability to select tunes, tempos and musical arrangements to enhance the dancers' enjoyment. It could be worth coming just to listen to the music. The dance, to be held at The Olde Meeting House at 901 M Ave., begins at 8 p.m. and continues until at least 10:30. Expect a variety of traditional dances including contra dances, old-time squares and waltzes. The dance is open to the public. All people, regardless of dance experience (or lack thereof,) are invited to attend. Come with or without a partner; a mix of singles, couples and families all come to these dances. Dances appropriate for a mix of adults and children are called early in the evening, while the rest of the dance is devoted to adult dancing. Admission is $5 for the public, $3 for society members, with children under 12 free. For more information call 962-9355 or 663-0776 or visit the folklore society Web site at http://www.eoni.com/~mlewis/neofs/ |
