STUDENT ART RUNS GAMUT FROM REALISTIC TO ABSTRACT
![]() LHS ART: La Grande High senior Nancy Binger works on her Impressionism-style oil painting called "Raspberry Sweet." The painting will be exhibited at the LHS spring art show that opens today at US Bank. (). The 10th annual La Grande High School spring art show kicks off today in the lobby of US Bank, 1402 Adams Ave. Some 30 to 40 students will have 100 to 150 works in the show. A reception will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday to give the public a chance to meet some of the artists behind the work. A two-judge panel of advanced art students at Eastern Oregon University will judge the show based on criteria ranging from creativity and skill to use of media. The show will continue through May 28. Styles in the spring show range from very realistic to abstract with everything in between. Still life, landscape, figures and wildlife are among the offerings. Visitors to the show will see drawings, collages and paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic. Ceramic and plaster sculptures as well as assemblages of found objects and some wheel-thrown stoneware pottery will also be on display. |
