SUMMER FISHTRAP EXPLORES CONTEMPORARY WEST

(). ENTERPRISE "Longing and Belonging in the West" is the theme of Summer Fishtrap, scheduled for July 7-11 at Wallowa Lake. The series of workshops will explore the contemporary West "who we are and how we feel about being here,'' said Rich Wandschneider, Fishtrap director. Workshop presenters and topics will be: Kate Power "The Musical Theater of Everyday Life: songs of the common folk" Geronimo Tagatac "Difficult Characters" Kathleen Alcala "Writing Magic Realism" Peter Sears "Pivotal Moment: a workshop in poetry or short fiction" Horace and Andrea Axtell "Nez Perce Language and Culture" Nyewusi Askari "Storytelling, or Exploring Your Own Life Journey in Song and Story" John Rember "Story and Talisman: a workshop in memoir" (this workshop filled up early) Jack Ohman "Drawing on the Write Side of the Brain" After the week of workshops, the weekend Fishtrap Gathering begins with dinner and readings by Fishtrap fellows. A deposit of $100 will reserve a spot in a workshop or the Gathering. Meals are served cafeteria-style at Wallowa Lake Camp and feature fresh local produce. Some partial scholarships are available.
