LA GRANDE - La Grande High School Theater offers an entertaining winter play this week in the high school auditorium.
"Snow Angel," written by David Lindsay-Abaire, has been
performed on high school and community theater stages around the
country.
The funny and poignant play features an excellent ensemble cast of 14 La Grande High School actors.
The worst blizzard in decades shuts down school
in a small New England community. A group of high school teens find
themselves out of school with nothing to do except goof around … and
complete their journal writing assignments for their hard core English
teacher.
When a strange girl appears mysteriously out of a snow bank, strange things begin happening.
The events that ensue cause the lives of these teens to become
enmeshed in ways that will make them rethink their relationships … and
the boundaries between fact and fiction.
"It's a play that is about and to some extent really for
teenagers, though most age groups will enjoy it," said Kevin Cahill,
who directs drama productions at LHS. "It looks at how teens, given
enough time and space, come to terms with each other's quirks and
peculiarities. It's a play about finding the courage to be good to one
another."
"Snow Angel" is directed by Kevin Cahill, stage managed by
Brittany Heitz, with lighting design by Morgan Lyons, sound by Ella
Antell and Martha McAllister, costumes by Whitney Ward, and props by
Lacey Ward. The play opens tonight and runs through Saturday.
Curtain time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $4 and can be purchased at
the door. The show lasts just over an hour and will not have an
intermission.
