Henderson recognized for his support of youth pheasant hunt at Ladd Marsh area
Les Henderson has received a plaque from the ODFW’s Northeast Region office honoring him for his support of the annual youth pheasant hunt at the Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area. The pheasant hunt is conducted each September for youths age 17 and under. Donations made by Henderson help pay for some of the pheasants that are released at Ladd Marsh just prior to the hunt. The pheasants are shipped to Ladd Marsh from Idaho where they are raised.
Henderson also assists with the ODFW’s Women in the Outdoors program by providing his dogs for bird hunts.
“Without volunteers like Les helping out it would be much harder to put on events like these,’’ said Craig Ely, the ODFW’s Northeast Region supervisor. “His willingness to volunteer in the community is impressive.’’
Henderson is the owner of Oregon Trail Trader in La Grande.
