MAVERICK JR. RODEO SLATED FOR AUG. 9-10

The La Grande Maverick Junior Rodeo, sanctioned by the Cayuse Junior Rodeo Association, will be held Aug. 9-10 at the Mavericks Arena in La Grande.

The rodeo for wranglers age 8 to 18 will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10 a.m. Aug. 10.

All-around buckle awards in each division and gear bag awards for each event winner will be presented.

Seniors, age 15-18, will compete in bull riding, bareback, saddle bronc, calf roping, ribbon roping and chute dogging for the boys. For the senior girls, cow/steer riding, breakaway roping, barrel racing, pole bending and ribbon roping will be featured.

For juniors aged 12-14, there's steer riding, bareback, breakaway roping, calf tying, ribbon roping and chute dogging for the boys, and cow/steer riding, barrel racing, pole bending, ribbon roping and goat tying for the girls.

For peewees, age 8-11, there's calf riding, goat tying, breakaway roping, pole bending and barrel racing for the boys and girls.
