SON LIGHT FEST BEGINS FRIDAY

Coming together in Christ for the purposes of joyful worship, fellowship

and sharing His Love.

That's right. It's time for the free, third annual Son Light Fest and it opens Friday at the Union County Fairgrounds.

The gates open at 5 p.m. Friday for Youth Night. Christian rock blasts off on the main stage at 6 p.m. with Joshua Fire. For those seeking gentler sounds, the indoor stage will open Friday night with country singer Charlie Ross.

Evangelist Reid Saunders will also be on hand both days. Through his relationships with the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association and the Next Generation Alliance, Saunders has spread the Good News throughout America, Africa, India and Albania.

For two days, music and food, arts and crafts, preaching and prayer, will all be part of the Son Light Fest experience. The local church organizations and youth groups will have food booths with the profits they make going to meet their own needs.

Overnight camping on the fairgrounds is available for those coming from out of town. Event organizer Armen Woosley said he knows of groups coming from Cottage Grove, McMinnville, Portland and Ontario. Last year, the event drew approximately 1,200 people. This year that number is expected to grow.

Although there is no admission charge, a small fee of $10 is asked of the musicians, artisans, crafters and food providers to help cover the cost of the fairgrounds and sound system. Beyond that, their profits are their own.

There will be goodwill donations boxes available to help with expenses. All donations go towards covering expenses, with any remaining money saved in a fund for next year.
