The Observer/LAURA MACKIE-HANCOCK Artist Louise Goodenow, center, looks at the display she created for vacation Bible school students at La Grande's United Methodist Church this week. Tye Pieper, 13, front left, Jasmine Moody, 9, front right, and Vincent Saurino, 15, were among the many young people who took delight in the seascape backdrop. Goodenow modeled the creation after the acronym SCUBA (Super Cool Undersea Bible Adventure), which was the church's VBS theme this year. "I try to blend fine art with what children will find appealing," said Goodenow, who also has done work for Zion Lutheran Church. |
