State Capitol Wreath Ceremony Will Honor Veterans

SALEM – To honor veterans and current service members during the holiday season, the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs has partnered with Wreaths Across American to hold a wreath-laying event at 11:45 a.m. Monday in the governor's ceremonial office at the state capitol.

The public ceremony will remember Oregon veterans who lost their lives in service to their country, as well as all veterans, military families and service members currently serving in U.S. Armed Forces.

Two National Guard members will place a wreath in honor of the sacrifice of the country's men and women in uniform. ODVA Director Cameron Smith and State Reps. Brad Witt and Kevin Cameron will be present to represent the state.

The ceremony will be held in conjunction with similar state capitol events across the country. Public participation is encouraged.

Oregon national cemetery wreath laying events will be held Dec. 14. For more information, visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org or call 503-373-2390.
