ISLAND CITY — The first tenant in the new Island City Wal-Mart Center will open its doors June 26.

Maurices, a women’s fashion retailer, is moving from the La Grande Town Center to the new development adjacent to the Wal-Mart Superstore.

A grand re-opening celebration will begin at 11 a.m., June 27, with a Union County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.

Featuring a range of casual to special occasion clothing, Maurices will now offer styles in an expanded range of sizes — 1 through 24.

“We’re so excited about the new look because we fill a unique niche for young women in this community,” store manager Terri Spears said.

The new 4,208-square-foot store features exclusive brands, Studio Y and Maurices.

Names of other businesses planning to locate at the new retail center have not been released.
