FIND BEADS, CRYSTALS AT STONE CIRCLE

A grand opening is being planned for Saturday by the business that took over the Jensen Photographic location on Adams Avenue across from the Employment Department.

It is called Stone Circle and will have a huge variety of beads, lead glass crystal, natural quartz crystal, gemstones and a very good selection of quality seed beads and accessories, said owner Nan Andrew-Howe.

It will have a unique Try n Buy library of beading books and a selection of Calcity crystal balls, she said.

Andrews-Howe took over the site on Sept. 17 and has been renovating the building, once a residence.

Andrews-Howe, now a resident of La Grande, had lived in Cove since 1993 until last October. She had another business an herb and fabric crafts business growing, harvesting, drying and mixing herbs and making peripherals for kitchen and home outside of Salem for five years. She had a small freelance drafting business here.

Her training is in computer drafting and engineering technology, she said. She has been a school librarian and substitute teacher to CAD drafter.

Opening a shop has been a dream for some time, a way to combine what I love to do and make a living, she said, not to mention finding space for my own collection of beads, stones, books and all the other goodies of similar nature.

I'll be offering classes, a lending library, books, supplies and the only bead shop with a drive-through window I've ever heard of.

Regular shop hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

She is married to Pat Andrews-Howe, with three children, two of whom are married and living in Salem. Michael, 15, is a sophomore at La Grande High. Mike and Pat will be helping in the shop.
