“Big H” construction impacts in downtown La Grande will be similar this week as in previous weeks, according to the City of La Grande’s latest project update.

The city said the alley between Elm and Depot streets behind Sterling Bank will be partially closed for a least a portion of this week. The concrete there is slow to dry and cure due to temperature and shade.

Also, the sidewalk on the east side of Elm between Adams and Jefferson avenues will remain closed for about another week as the concrete dries and cures.

The city said finish work will continue on the new accent wall on Adams near Sterling Bank, and there will be some sidewalk finish work on the north side of Washington between Depot and the public parking lot.

Businesses with new sidewalk planters installed are asked to fill these with dirt and plant material as soon as possible to prevent these from being used as trash cans by the public.

The city said it is not providing plant material or trash service for the planters.

The Big H project includes a rebuild of sidewalks, alleys and alley approaches on Elm and Depot streets between Washington Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. The project also takes in the section of Adams Avenue between Elm and Depot, the north side of Washington between Elm and Depot and the two alleys that run between Elm and Depot on either side of Adams.
