2,000-acre wildfire in Eastern Oregon
VALE — Firefighters are battling the heat as well as the flames on a wildfire that has burned about 2,000 acres in Eastern Oregon in Malheur County near the Idaho border.
Undersheriff Travis Johnson says the temperature Tuesday is expected to top 100 degrees. He also says some ash has blown into Vale from the fire, which is about 25 miles south.
The fire began Sunday along Highway 20 and is burning grass and brush.
