Armed robber strikes motel

A masked man armed with a pistol got away with an undisclosed amount of money in a robbery Thursday night at the Best Value Motel. La Grande Police Lt. Derick Reddington said the suspect entered the motel, at 2410 R Ave., about 8:35 p.m., produced what was described as a semiautomatic pistol and demanded cash from the clerk. The clerk complied, and the man shoved the money into a camo-colored bag with a drawstring. He left out the back door. “It’s unknown at this time if he was acting alone or had a getaway car waiting for him,” Reddington said. The suspect was described as a slender male, 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall, and was dressed in dark baggy pants, a black hoodie and a Halloween mask. Anyone with information about the case should call Det. Jason Hays at the police department, 541-963-1017.
