BRIEFLY: Dinner will support drug-free youth

Dinner will support drug-free youth 

The La Grande Rotary Club is hosting an enchilada fundraiser to support the Drug-Free Youth program of the La Grande Middle School and other youth service projects.

The dinner will run from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Blue Mountain Conference Center. 

Pre-sale tickets are $8 and $4 for kids younger than 11 and are available at Valley Insurance, the Maridell Center and the Observer. Tickets at the door are $10, $5 kids. For more information, contact Glenas Orcutt, event chair, at 541-963-3161.

Retired Educators group meets  

The Union County Retired Educators will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dusty Spurs Cafe, corner of Greenwood and S Avenue. The guest speaker will be Karen Clay from the EOU library. Visitors are welcome to come and see what fun the group has.

Public transit seeks comments

Northeast Oregon Public Transit is seeking public comment on the reinstatement of fixed route and ADA paratransit services on Saturdays in La Grande. 

Public comment will be open at the regular Advisory Council meeting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Northeast Oregon Transit Building conference room, 2204 E. Penn Ave.

Conservation projects discussed at meeting 

ISLAND CITY — The Union Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its regular monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ag Service Center, 10507 N. McAlister Road, Island City, to discuss conservation projects and monthly business.

La Grande School Board meets  

The La Grande School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room of Willow Elementary School. 

Union School Board meets Wednesday

UNION — The Union School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the high school athletic complex. The board will discuss filling a vacancy on the board. 

LHS hosts College, Military, Career Fair

La Grande High School is hosting a College, Military & Career Fair from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 28 in the La Grande High School Commons. Businesses that would like to set up a table should contact Teresa Dowdy at 541-663-3307.
