BRIEFLY: Discounted parking permits available

People can purchase city parking permits that will allow them to park for longer than the two-hour restriction on city streets, where signs permit. 

The permits can be purchased for $40 until Jan. 31. The price will increase to $60 effective Feb. 1. Permits are available at City Hall, 1000 Adams Ave. For more information, call 541-962-1313.

Victims’ impact panel meets Wednesday

ENTERPRISE — The Wallowa County Victims’ Impact Panel program will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallowa County Courthouse. Check-in is from 6:30 p.m. to 6:55 p.m., and the doors will be locked at 6:55 p.m. The cost is $30 for those 18 and older and $15 for those younger than 18. The fee is waived for a parent or guardian if attending with a minor. For more information, call Stephanie Stone at

‘Diabetes and the Eye’ is focus 

The Diabetes Support Group welcomes Dr. David Glabe from La Grande Family Eye Care to talk about “Diabetes and the Eye” at its January meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the third floor Mount Emily Conference Rooms at Grande Ronde Hospital. 

Glabe will discuss why people with diabetes need more eye exams, the risks of diabetes to good eye health and how eye complications from diabetes may be prevented. 

Union County’s Diabetes Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month at GRH. The general public — those with or without diabetes — are welcome to attend any session of interest.

Cove senior meal served Friday

COVE — The Cove senior dinner will be Friday at the Baptist Church. On the menu are hot beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, salad, rolls and dessert. 

At noon, coffee and tea will be served, with dinner to follow at 12:30 p.m. 

The BlueMountaineers will provide live music.
