BUDGET AX SPARES COVE'S SCHOOLS
COVE The Cove School District probably will not have to wield its budget cutting ax.
The school board has adopted a general fund budget of $2,027,350 for 2001-02 that is about $67,000 more than the districts 2000-01 budget.
Superintendent Arnold Coe noted, however, that the Oregon Legislature has not approved a final education budget for the 2001-03 biennium. Coe said there is a possibility the Legislature will approve a budget that would provide the Cove district with less money than anticipated. Oregon public school districts are dependent on the state for a high percentage of their funding.
We have a tight budget that is not based on firm numbers, Coe said.
The superintendent said the districts budget committee is prepared to come back this summer to make adjustments if necessary.
