Three local firefighting agencies were called Friday morning to quell a blaze in a haystack in rural Union.

The La Grande Rural Fire District sent an engine and a tender to the fire, on Woodruff Lane near Godley Road. The Cove Fire Department responded with an engine and a tender, and the Imbler Fire Department sent a tender.

No injuries were reported, but 500 tons of hay belonging to Mike Becker were destroyed.
