Housing project to break ground
An event marking the start of the first building project of its kind in Union County in at least two decades is fast approaching.
Groundbreaking for the $8.2 million Blue Springs Crossing low-income housing project is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at 10800 Walton Road, southeast of Walmart.
“It will be a huge leap for affordable housing in Union County,” said Dale Inslee, executive director of the Northeast Oregon Housing Authority, which will own and manage Blue Springs Crossing.
Inslee said the new housing will fill an important void since no affordable housing apartment complexes have been built in Union County for at least 20 years.
