Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office continues search for Caldwell man
The search continues Monday for a 42-year-old Idaho man who went missing after a weekend boating accident on the Snake River on the Idaho-Oregon border.
The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about 7 p.m. Friday regarding a boating accident on the river near the Hells Canyon Dam.
Law enforcement officials say a jet boat capsized around that time while attempting to negotiate Wild Sheep rapids approximately 8 miles north of the dam.
Charles W. Gissel, 42 of Ontario, and Eric Meyerhoffer, 43 of Payette, Idaho, were found on the shore, but 42-year-old Ricky M. Flores of Caldwell, Idaho, remains missing.
The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office initiated a search and rescue mission with the help of the Adams County, Idaho, Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon State Police, Oregon Air National Guard, the U.S. Forest Service, Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Power and others to find Flores and the boat.
Search and rescue efforts will continue with additional assets, including side scan radar.
The Oregon Department of Corrections says the three men worked at Snake River Correctional Institution near Ontario.
