LG SCHOOL BOARD SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR VACANCY
Applications for the vacancy on the La Grande School Board created by the resignation of Shari Bennett are being accepted.
Applications will be accepted through Jan. 14.
Bennett resigned on Dec. 20 after serving on the school board for 12 1/2 years. People who have lived in the district for a year can apply for the position through Jan. 14.
The opening is for position 5 in zone 3. Candidates for zone 3 positions must be registered voters and live within La Grandes city limits.
Applicants will be interviewed by the school board. The board will then appoint someone.
Applications for the school board opening can be picked up at the school districts administration building, 2802 Adams Ave. People can have applications mailed to them by calling Sharry Schaucher at the school district, 663-3202.
Bennett, who was reelected in March, had 3 1/2 years remaining on her term.
The individual selected to succeed her will be appointed to a 1 1/2-year term. In May 2003 an election for position 5 will be conducted. The winner will be elected to a two-year term.
