EOU campus closed during the holidays 

Eastern Oregon University will be closed during the holidays beginning Monday. The campus will reopen for business on Jan. 2.

The scheduled closure falls during winter break for enrolled students and is part of the energy saving measures outlined in EOU’s sustainability plan.

Only those employees who provide essential services will work during the closure, such as campus security and facilities staff in the event of inclement weather.

Winter term classes begin Jan. 6.

TEC offers computer classes in January

Training & Employment Consortium, 1901 Adams Ave, is offering computer instruction in January. These classes are open to the public at no charge. For registration information, call Glenna at 541-963-7942 ext. 11. All classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The classes are as follows: Access (two-day class), Jan. 6-7; Publisher (one-day class), Jan. 14 and Jan. 16; Intro to Word (one-day class), Jan. 21; Intermediate Word (four-day class), Jan. 23, 28, 29 and 30.

Senior center closed for holidays

The Union County Senior Center will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. The BlueMountaineers will not be playing on those dates.

Wallowa County counts birds Sunday 

ENTERPRISE — The annual Wallowa County Christmas Bird Count will take place Sunday. Participants begin their day at 7 a.m. at the Red Rooster Cafe in Enterprise and should dress warmly and bring binoculars. The count concludes at 4 p.m.

ArtsEast offers holiday gift gallery

The ArtsEast office has been transformed into a holiday gift gallery and will be open after hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for holiday shoppers. This annual holiday show is also an important fundraising event. Proceeds are used to support arts education projects.

This show features an array of one-of-a-kind handcrafted items. Gift certificates are available.

ArtsEast is located on the Eastern Oregon University campus in the little white house on the corner of Sixth Street and L Avenue across from the police station. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
