No one was injured and a La Grande man was arrested in a shooting incident Sunday night at the La Grande Plaza Apartments in the 700 block of 12th Street. About 8:35 p.m., La Grande police officers and Union County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a possible gunshot fired at 703 12th St. Witnesses said that a man had fired a shot with a rifle from inside apartment 14. According to La Grande Police Chief Brian Harvey, it appeared the shot was fired into the air. Harvey said officers and deputies established a perimeter and warned nearby residents about the situation. A suspect identified as Gary Lawrence Kesinger, 32, ultimately hid in the apartment’s attic. While officers were monitoring the scene, Lawrence fell through the ceiling and into the apartment. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Union County Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct in the second degree. A rifle was recovered by police, Harvey said.
