Man held in triple slaying being moved to Union County

Gregory Alvin Cook, the La Grande man charged in the slayings of three people in mid-July, waived extradition in Washington state Tuesday and will be transported back to Union County today. Cook, sought in the killings of Shannon Marie McKillop, Frank Scaramuzzi and Jeremiah Johnston, was arrested without incident Monday at a rural home between Rainier and Yelm, Wash. Union County District Attorney Tim Thompson said Cook waived extradition in a hearing Tuesday afternoon in Thurston County, Wash. Cook will be arraigned in Union County Circuit Court Thursday, Thompson said.McKillop’s dismembered body was found in and near a pond along Pumpkin Ridge Road near Elgin July 24. The bodies of Scaramuzzi and Johnson were discovered last Saturday in a wooded area off Darr Road north of Elgin.
