More fires reported in Northeastern Oregon
ENTERPRISE — Three new fires were reported Friday on the Umatilla and Wallowa-Whitman national forests in Northeast Oregon.
A fire reported at 7:11 a.m. on Rabbit Butte, west of Baker, is on the North Fork John Day District of the Umatilla National Forest.
The Huckleberry Loop Fire southeast of Baker was reported at 11:43 a.m. and is on private land. Oregon Department of Forestry is managing the fire that burned a tenth of an acre.
A fire reported at 1:58 p.m. near Sky Lake in the Eagle Cap Wilderness is burning in grass and timber.
A red flag warning is in effect from the National Weather Service. Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected through Saturday.The warning said abundant lightning can be expected. Some of the storms may produce rain, hail and erratic winds. Frequent lightning and critically dry fuels may result in numerous fire starts.
