OSP identifies two truckers killed in Sunday crash
Oregon State Police identified the names of the two men killed in Sunday’s crash on Interstate 84 east of Pendleton.
Police said Vasiliy Lobodyuk, 35, of Portland lost control of his vehicle on the icy freeway, wrecking his semi-trailer, which came to rest still on the interstate.
A series of crashes involving three other commercial trucks occurred associated with the initial crash.
After the secondary collisions, Mario Santana, 51, of Richland, Wash., was found dead inside the cab of the truck he was driving. He was pulling two empty milk trailer containers.
Another truck driver, Gerald Alexander, 51, of Houston, Texas, was ejected from the semi-truck he was driving. Alexander’s body was found approximately 3/4 of a mile west of the crash scene after his body was drug by another vehicle.
According to OSP, the ongoing investigation is looking into the possibility that an Oregon Department of Transportation snow plow coming through the area after the collision may have accidentally pushed Alexander down the road to where his body was recovered.
