Most electricity users in Union County will see a 2 percent decrease in their costs beginning in April.

Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative announced today that a wholesale rate, known as the cost recovery adjustment clause, has been reduced by the Bonneville Power Authority.

As promised by the board of directors, 100 percent of the rate reduction is being passed on to our consumers, said Cliff Stewart, OTEC general manager.

OTECs 30 percent rate increase imposed last October included a 2 percent increase under the BPAs adjustment clause.

We hope that electric rates from BPA will continue to drop in the future, Stewart said. However, there is still a lot of volatility and uncertainty in the deregulated wholesale power market.

OTEC customers will see the reduction on their bills beginning April 5.
