PLAY SETS STAGE FOR GIVING
ENTERPRISE It was standing room only Wednesday in Sue Barstad's first and second grade class at Enterprise School.
All 21 students performed in a short play.
"The Magic Carrot" was about the meaning of Christmas: the blessing is in the giving not the receiving.
The students are putting that message into practice. Earlier they had gone to the the "Tree of Giving" (sponsored by the Elks Lodge) at Enterprise Flower Shop.
The tree is decorated with ornaments, each labeled with the age and sex of a needy person. The students selected two ornaments for children in their age group.
The students then set about raising money to purchase gifts for the two anonymous children. They did not miss the opportunity at their play Wednesday. The students passed the hat for donations.
Next the students will shop for the gifts, wrap them and return them to the tree by the Wednesday deadline.
There are still plenty of ornaments on the tree. The public is encouraged to follow these students' example by picking up an ornament and including a gift for someone less fortunate in this year's Christmas shopping.
