Public Safety Report for January 20, 2014

La Grande Police

Arrested: Aristeo Rubio-Roque, 30, La Grande, was arrested Friday morning on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, interfering with making a report and coercion. 

Accident: No one was injured in a vehicle versus bicycle accident at Fourth Street and Penn Avenue Friday afternoon. Both parties were warned for failure to yield.

Accident: At least one person was injured in an accident near 2605 Third Street Friday afternoon.

Cited: Clifton Michell Carter, 21, unknown address, was cited in lieu of lodging early Sunday morning on a charge of driving while suspended.

Arrested: Joseph Michael Smientana, 25, La Grande, was arrested early Monday morning on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Union County Sheriff

Arrested: Kerry Lynn Grubbs, 40, unknown address, was arrested Friday afternoon on 31 counts of negotiating a bad check.

Cited: Kevin Michael Gallaway, 28, La Grande, was cited in lieu of lodging on a charge of harassment Saturday night.

Arrested: William Jay Dayton, 21, unknown address, was arrested Sunday by the Eugene Police Department on two Union County warrants. The first was a Northwest states felony warrant charging failure to appear on original charges of first-degree forgery, first-degree theft, ID theft and negotiating a bad check. The second was a statewide misdemeanor warrant charging failure to appear on original charges of second-degree theft and theft of services.

La Grande Rural Fire

At 11:45 p.m. Friday a crew responded for a lift assist in Island City.

At about 7:30 a.m. Saturday a crew responded to the Boise Cascade Particleboard Plant for a fire in a boiler room. The fire was extinguished and no damage was done.

About 6:30 p.m. Saturday a crew responded for a medical assist in Island City.

La Grande Fire and Ambulance

La Grande Fire and Ambulance crews responded to 12 calls for medical assistance, one call for a brush fire and  on Friday. The brush fire, at the 12th Street cemetery, was quickly extinguished.

La Grande Fire and Ambulance crews responded to nine calls for medical assistance one call for mutual aid assistance
at the Boise Cascade fire Saturday.

La Grande Fire and Ambulance crews responded to three calls for medical assistance Sunday.
