Red Cross announces new board

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross recently announced the appointment of an advisory board for its Northeastern Oregon District.

The members of the board will serve as ambassadors, advocates and allies for the work of the American Red Cross in Union, Wallowa, Morrow, Umatilla and Baker counties.

“These respected community leaders will be invaluable to us in consulting on community needs, health and safety training opportunities, public relations issues and new relationships,” said Maree Wacker, chief executive officer of the Oregon Trail Chapter.

Red Cross offices are located in Baker City, La Grande and Pendleton.

Representing Union County are Dr. Bob Davies, president of Eastern Oregon University; Mary Jane Johnson, co-owner of Conley Farms in Cove; Ted Kramer, publisher and editor of The Observer; and Colleen MacLeod, former Union County Commissioner.

In Wallowa County, Marvin Gibbs, insurance and investment adviser from Wallowa; David Harman, administrator of Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise; Sondra Lozier, community volunteer from Enterprise; and Rhonda Shirley, superintendent of the Joseph School District will serve.

Representing Baker County are Sean Benson, Baker City dentist; Kari Borgen, publisher of the Baker City Herald; Roberta Morin, cattle rancher and long-term Red Cross volunteer from Hereford; and Fred Warner, Baker County commissioner.

A representative from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation will be appointed at a later date.
