By The Observer ELGIN A family-night rodeo, professional rodeo and two parades will be among the highlight of this weekends Elgin Stampede. The annual event kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday with Family Night at the Stampede grounds. Events are geared for children and families. On Friday action turns to professional rodeo, with the fourth annual Mark Nichols Bullarama at 7 p.m. Rodeo performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, with the annual Suicide Race preceding Sundays show. Among other events will be rodeo dances featuring Jerry Kershaw at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Two parades will highlight the weekend. The Kiddie Parade is at 11 a.m. Saturday. The main parade is at 11 a.m. Sunday. A Kiss the Pig benefit for the Elgin Food Bank will follow the Sunday parade at Clarence Witty Park. The Elgin Masons will put on a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at the lodge hall. Reigning over this years rodeo and festivities will be Queen Kacie McDonald and princesses Natalie Soares and Shilo Zacharias. RODEO DETAILS IN SPORTS |
