Last month wettest on record in La Grande
La Grande just experienced its wettest October on record.
According to the National Weather Service, precipitation totaled 3.52 inches during October, which was 2.23 inches above normal. The previous wettest was 2.91 inches in 2000.
Measurable precipitation — at least .01 inch — was received on 10 days with the heaviest, 1.45 inches, reported on the 29th.
Temperatures at La Grande averaged slightly colder than normal during the month of October.
The average temperature was 47.4 degrees, which was 1.4 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 60.0 degrees, which was 2.3 degrees below normal. The highest was 78 degrees on the 1st. Low temperatures averaged 34.7 degrees, which was 0.5 degrees below normal. The lowest was 25 degrees, on the 6th.
There were 14 days with the low temperature below 32 degrees.
The outlook for November from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for near to above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Normal highs for La Grande fall from 54.0 degrees at the start of November to 40.0 degrees at the end of November. Normal lows fall from 33.0 degrees to 26.0 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 2.03 inches.
