SUMMERVILLE — Phase two of the City Hall’s renovation plan began this past week as Danforth Construction of La Grande worked at giving the exterior of the building a badly needed makeover.
The city contracted with Danforth Construction in 2007 to perform the work specified in its City Hall maintenance plan. In mid-June 2007, business owner Rick Danforth and construction workers Ted and Travis Danforth had replaced the hall’s 20-year-old composite roofing with white, metal roofing.
The crew returned Friday to the site to complete the second phase of the project, including putting on vinyl siding and installing new windows and gutters to the rough, wood-sided structure. A missing porch post will also be replaced by the workers.
“We’ve started putting up the soffit and siding today (Friday), but we still have to put in the windows and gutters,” Rick Danforth said.
Rick and Travis Danforth, residents of Summerville, and Ted Danforth of Union will finish their work on City Hall by Wednesday.
Summerville City Hall is situated on the corner of Patten and Donvegan streets.
