TEACHERS HONORED

Twenty-nine educators from throughout the country and in Saipan have been nominated by freshman honor students at Eastern Oregon University to receive EOU's 2002 Inspirational Teacher Awards.

Students who achieved Dean's List standings during the fall term were asked to nominate a teacher who inspired them academically. All teachers nominated receive a certificate.

Following is a list of students and the teachers nominees from Northeast Oregon:

• Shannon Touhey, a 2002 La Grande graduate, nominated Bob Jensen, an art teacher from La Grande High School.

• Nathan VanVickle, a 2002 La Grande graduate, nominated Larry Nicholson, a social studies teacher from La Grande High School.

• Patricia Hansen, a 2001 La Grande graduate, nominated Kevin Cahill, an English teacher from La Grande High School.

• Natalie Soares, a 2002 Wallowa graduate, nominated Karen Lawrence, an English teacher from Wallowa High School.

• Meegan Andersen, a 1995 Island City graduate, nominated Robin Parker, an English teacher from the Lighthouse Academy.

• Joseph Goebel, a 2002 Wallowa graduate, nominated Jeri Ottem, a math, chemistry and physics teacher from Wallowa High School.

• Keely Hopkins, a 2002 Enterprise graduate, nominated Mike Baird, an economics teacher from Enterprise High School.

• James Bane, a 2002 Enterprise graduate, nominated Jennifer Frentress, an English teacher from Enterprise High School.

• Catherine Herrmann, a 2002 La Grande graduate, nominated Jerry Sebestyen, a history teacher from La Grande High School.
