 On the corner of the Oregon Trail (B Avenue) and Gekeler Lane in La Grande, Henry Parsons, 2, enjoys a sunny day at Birnie Park, the first stop on the auto tour. While the rolling hills and vast mountainsides surrounding La Grande is nothing new to those from Eastern Oregon, sometimes when living in beauty for a long time, appreciation for the area can become lost.
 The Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area, a 3,208-acre viewing and preservation site for birds and animals developed by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The marsh features a nature trail one mile off Highway 203 to further introduce the public to the plants and animals hidden throughout the land. To make sure that doesn’t happen, Union County Tourism offers a scenic drive called “The Grande Tour” showcasing some of Eastern Oregon’s most stunning sights.
