WASTEWATER SYSTEM MAY BE IN IMBLER'S FUTURE
IMBLER Has the time come for a wastewater system in Imbler?
The Imbler City Council is seeking input from citizens on the town's future growth. A town meeting has been set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in room 1 at the high school.
The meeting is a preliminary step in planning for a sewage disposal system, Councilor Dick Royse said. But citizens will be encouraged to comment on any issue related to the city.
Recently, councilors carried surveys door to door to measure residents' opinions on the need for a wastewater
Anderson, Perry & Associates has begun exploring the types of systems that could be considered.
"We want to find out what people want,'' Royse said. "At this point we're not being forced to build a wastewater system, but we anticipate the state will eventually force every town to do it. We're concerned if we wait too long there won't be any federal money available to help.''
Royse said he hopes Imbler citizens will come and talk about what they'd like Imbler to be in 10 years. Word last week that the school district is considering dropping from the 2A to 1A classification for sports participation might have more people thinking about the community's future, Royse said.
