Carter, Thompson

Austin Daniel Carter, 12, of Union, died April 29 unexpectedly of unknown causes at Grande Ronde Hospital. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Union High School gym. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Grace (Nilsen) Thompson, 95, of Joseph, died April 28 at Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise. She will be buried in the Enterprise Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held in June or July.

Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grace was born March 27, 1913, to Gertrude (Settem) and Ole Nilsen in Astoria. She married George Wilson Thompson Nov. 15, 1933, in Portland. He preceded her in death March 30, 2006. Grace was a homemaker and a member of Community Congregational Church in Enterprise.

Survivors include her son, Bill Thompson of Joseph; daughters, Mali Hagan of Wallowa Lake and Sally Thompson of Union Gap, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
