Linda LeFever Christensen
Formerly of La Grande
Linda Jean LeFever Christensen, 51, of Baker City and formerly of La Grande died July 28 at her home after a long illness. At her request there will be no service.
Mrs. Christensen was born March 13, 1953, to LeRoy and Armia Jean Schooler Shawver in La Grande. She attended school in La Grande and married Rick LeFever. The couple were later divorced. She left La Grande in 1986 and worked at Marvin Wood Products in Baker City for several years. In November of 2003 she married Daniel Christensen in Baker City.
Survivors include her husband of Baker City; her mother, a daughter, Angela Pursfull, and three grandchildren all of La Grande; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mildred Shawver; and other relatives. Her father died earlier.
Ellena M. Lund, 87, of La Grande died Aug. 1 at a Portland hospital. At her request, there will be no services.
Mrs. Lund was born June 12, 1917, to Ralph and Hattie Roseman Dunham in Momence, Ill. She married Harold Lund on his 44th birthday, Sept. 24, 1944, in Portland, where they lived until his death in 1976. She moved to La Grande to be close to family and lived at the Grande Ronde Retirement Residence.
She worked as a touch-up artist for portraits, and worked for many years at the Patton Retirement home in Portland. She enjoyed pets, rose gardening and watching birds.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Dixie Lund of La Grande; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Renold and Calvin Dunham, both of Portland. Two siblings died earlier.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Association in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St.
Formerly of La Grande
A memorial service for Helen E. Lowman, 89, of Portland and formerly of
La Grande, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St.
Mrs. Lowman died June 16.
Illa Lavon Dial, 77, of La Grande died Aug. 4 at a local care facility. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St. A graveside service at Grandview Cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Irwin Smutz officiating.
Mrs. Dial was born Oct. 7, 1926, to Albert and Bertha Williams Tiffany in La Grande. She graduated from Union High School and from Eastern Oregon College. She taught school in Imbler and then at Greenwood Elementary School. She was a dedicated teacher who loved her students. In 1986 she was named Union County Teacher of the Year.
On July 20, 1952, she married James Dial in La Grande. She was a member of the Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Retired Educators Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed craftwork and crocheting and loved her dog, Katie.
Survivors include nephews and nieces, including Dixie Hofmann of
La Grande and a good friend, Glenna Sams of La Grande. Her husband, three brothers, Albert, Clifford and Howard Tiffany, and a sister, Vera Thompson, all died earlier.

Irene "Tu-Tu" Stuart, 79, of La Grande died Aug. 5 at her home.
Mrs. Stuart was born July 29, 1925, to Edgar and Maria DeVos in Baker City. Her parents had emigrated from Belgium in 1921. She married Dr. Robert L. Stuart, who died in 1983.
She was a successful businesswoman for many years, a world class cook and homemaker. She took great pride in her flowers and yard, and loved to decorate for Christmas, inside and out. She was an animal lover and fed and found homes for all stray cats and dogs that landed on her doorstep. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Her faith was her foundation, and her family was her fortress. She was a hard act to follow.
Survivors include children and their spouses, Linda Danes and Rick Snyder of La Grande, Robert and Stacey Stuart of West Linn; a grandson, Ricky D. Snyder of La Grande; step-daughters, Joetta Stuart Smith of La Grande and Theresa Stuart Kennedy of Maui, Hawaii, and other relatives. An infant sister died earlier.
