Gina Renee Matte, 48, of Elgin, died March 3 at her residence. A full obituary will be published later. 

Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.

 


 

Peggy Eubanks

North Powder

A celebration of life service for Peggy Eubanks will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Powder Valley High School gymnasium in North Powder.

 


 

Keith Edwin Young

Portland

Keith Edwin Young, 61, of Portland, died Friday at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Keith is the son of Ron and Carolyn Young, and local services will be announced later by Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

 


 

Dale Niederer

Formerly of Summerville

1933-2014

Dale Niederer, 80, of Pahrump, Idaho, and formerly of Summerville, died Jan. 11 at his home. At his request, no services are planned.

Dale was born March 24, 1933, in Summerville to Leo and Lillian Niederer. He married Jeanne Franklin in 1956 and served in the U.S. Marines, from which he received an honorable discharge.

In the late 1950s, Dale owned two service stations in Washington state as a Standard Oil representative. In 1974 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where Dale worked for Wein Air Alaska and Sohio/BP before retiring in the mid-1990s.

Dale was a member of the Baptist church. He enjoyed working in his shop, especially helping people with their cars. He also designed and built motors, cars and trailers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Vern and Bob Niederer; and a grandson, Christopher Inman.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Niederer; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Wright and Ben Kleinenberg, Lisa and Mark Inman and Kris and Mark Thomas; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 


 

Robert ‘Bob’ Douglas Worcester

La Grande

1957-2014

Robert “Bob” Douglas Worcester, 57, of La Grande, died March 5 at his residence. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the La Grande Nazarene Church. 

Bob was born Jan. 10, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert M. and Joe Ann (Greene) Worcester. He graduated from La Grande High School. Bob was married to Cindy Diane Newman in June 1989 until her death in October 1994. He married Cathy Rae Gross in September 2008.

Bob was employed at La Grande Amusement and then Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative, retiring after 21 years. Bob enjoyed spending time with family, taking care of others, fishing and hunting. He was a Little League coach, an Optimist football volunteer, a Babe Ruth coach and supported numerous local student athletics.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Sherry Wolfe and her husband, Heath, of La Grande; stepsons, Josh Hamill and his wife, Christina, of La Grande, Jeremy Hamill of La Grande, Justin Hamill of La Grande and Bradon Thompson of La Grande; in-laws, Charles and Betty Gross of Elgin; sisters, Wendy Dunlap and her husband, Harvey, of Oklahoma, Sally McCann and her husband, Dave, of La Grande, and Barbara Carper of Hillsboro; sisters-in-law, Charlene Hampton and her husband, Randy, of La Grande, Brenda Farris and her husband, Bob, of Hood River; brother-in-law, Rod Gross and his wife, Kelly, of La Grande; three grandchildren, 23 nieces and nephews; aunts, Ellen Connett of Colorado and Marilynn Faber of Iowa; and stepmother, Kaethe Worcester of Portland.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joe Ann Worcester; wife, Cindy Diane Newman-Worcester; nephew Robert Clayton Dunlap, and brother, Robert Marshall Worcester Jr.

Guillermo ‘Gil’ Dominguez

La Grande

1913-2014

Guillermo “Gil” Dominguez, 99, of La Grande, died March 4. He will be interred at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Palm Springs, Calif., alongside his wife.

Known as Gil, he was born Dec. 7, 1913, in Puerto Rico. He married Victoria “Vicky” Fontanez in 1936 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an M.P. After his honorable discharge, Gil and Vicky decided to stay in Brooklyn, N.Y., where Gil worked for the United States Post Office for a number of years.

In Brooklyn the family grew to two daughters, Maria and Diana, and two sons, Gil Jr. and Daniel. In 1956 the family followed the Brooklyn Dodgers to Los Angeles, Calif., where Gil worked at the Beverly Hills Post Office. He always had a few tidbits or jokes about the famous actor he had spoken with or spotted on the job.

Gil and Vicky were active members of the Baptist church. Gil volunteered his time to visit prisoners needing spiritual guidance. He and the pastor would visit the prisoners to offer prayers and advice.

At the age of 72, Gil retired from the post office, and he and Vicky moved to Palm Springs, Calif. After the death of his wife, Gil remained alone for a few years until diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His children moved him to La Grande so that his daughter Diana could watch over him. He lived almost nine years at Wildflower Lodge, then moved to Vera’s Foster Care where he received exceptional care by the Carroll family and by his daughter.

He was preceded in death by his three siblings and his wife of 64 years, Vicky.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Maria Dominguez, Diana and Les Tipton, Gil Dominguez Jr. and Dan and Jeanne Dominguez; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Gordon ‘Pete’ Lindsay

La Grande

1925-2014

Gordon “Pete” Ray Lindsay, 88, of La Grande died Feb. 27 at Grande Ronde Retirement Residence. No services are planned. Arrangements are under the care of Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory.

Gordon was born Nov. 5, 1925, to John Ray and Mary Emma (Martin) Lindsay in Finch, Mont. 

He attended Chinook Public School in Rathdrum, Idaho. 

During his life, he made his residence in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Thompson Falls, Mont., and ultimately La Grande. His wife’s name was Virginia Imbler.

Gordon worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, Wash., from which he received a retirement award. However, he would consider his crowning accomplishment to be the raising of five children.

Gordon was a member of the NRA. His hobbies included farming and working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ray and Mary Emma Lindsay; siblings, Mary Lindsay, Bill Lindsay and Sally Lindsay; and a grandson, Chris Lindsay. 

Survivors include his children, Steve Lindsay, Patty Lindsay, Rodney Lindsay, Penny Oliver and Gary Lindsay; siblings, Lenore Self, Esther Webb, Virginia Lindsay, Dave Lindsay and Dorothy Lindsay; and seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
