Formerly of Elgin

Stephen A. Anderson, 47, formerly of Elgin, died at his residence in La Grande, Tuesday. A full obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of his care and arrangements.

John ‘Bud’ Jones

A viewing for family and friends of John “Bud” Jones will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Marie Plueard

Marie Plueard died Nov. 14 at a local care facility in Elgin from complications of C.O.P.D.

Marie was born May 17, 1949, in McMinnville. She was raised in the Cottage Grove and Triangle Lake areas, and even as a child, she was a force to be reckoned with, family members said.

In 1980, she moved her family to the Wallowa Mountains up Big Canyon Road (Minam). She made a house into a home. No electricity. No phone. No problems.

In February 1996, she lost her dream home to a flood but gained her most precious gift, her granddaughter, Vanessa.

Marie was a beautiful soul, family members said, and there was never a better mother, sister, aunt or friend.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose; her father, Dean; sister, Joyce; brother, Jerry; and nephews, Tommie and Jimmy Dean.

She is survived by her granddaughter, daughter Sharee Henderson (Ed Durfee) of Elgin; son, Jon Plueard of St. John; sister, Winonia (Terry) Thompson of Elgin and Arlene Plueard of La Grande; brothers, Austin (Gerry) Plueard of Elgin and Tom (Norma) Barton of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews throughout Oregon and Washington.

The family would like to thank Norm and Melissa Hayes for the care they gave in the end  and the women of Heart and Home Hospice, who they said took compassion to a whole new level.

Memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to Grey’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City OR 97814.

Charlotte was very close with her family and friends. She loved tending her home and garden and enjoyed music, plays and the arts.

Charlotte is survived by her partner, John; sons, Stephen Jiggs Brown and his wife, Darilyn, of La Grande, Van Golden Brown and his wife, Tina, of La Grande; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jiggs; and sons, Gregory and Jimmy.
