Asper, Rowland, Boots, Jones, Kahut

Patrick J. Asper

La Grande


Patrick J. Asper, 78, of La Grande, died July 17 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho, after an extended illness. No services are planned at this time.

Patrick was born May 17, 1935, in La Grande. He spent his early years on a ranch in Telocaset and graduated from Union High School in 1953.

After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving for two years. During his army years he was awarded a medal for marksmanship. After his discharge, Patrick worked for one year for the Hershey chocolate company in Pennsylvania.

Patrick liked to play cards and hunt. He enjoyed being outdoors and his hobby was collecting guns.

He was preceded in death by his brother Nickolas. Survivors include his mother, Lodema Asper, and his brother Robert Asper.

 Donna L. Rowland

La Grande


Donna Lorene Rowland, 85, of La Grande, died July 23 at a local care facility. No services are planned at this time. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Donna was born July 7, 1928, in Shelley, Idaho, to Emmett and Gladys Marie (Cousin) Murphy. She grew up in Idaho before moving to Crescent City, Calif., where she was a restaurant owner for many years.

Donna also lived in Arizona and Washington before moving to La Grande to be near family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Rowland; and brothers, Darrel Dean Murphy, LaVon Murphy and Sherman Jay Murphy.

Survivors include her children, Sandy Pierotte of Hanford, Calif., Richard Reynolds of Texas and Terry Reynolds of Hornbrook, Calif.; brother, William R. Murphy of Union; sister, Bonnie M. Doyle of La Grande; aunts and uncles, Alma Cousin Moore, Marie Cousin and Lloyd Cousin; eleven nieces and nephews; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 Mable Boots


A celebration of life service for Mable Edith Boots, of Elgin, will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Elgin Christian Life Center.

A full obituary will be published at a later time. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

 Maretta Jones


Memorial services for Maretta Jones will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Union at 3 p.m. July 27. Jones, 78, of Union, died Dec. 12, 2012.

 Milton L. Kahut

La Grande

Milton L. Kahut, 54, of La Grande, died July 26 at his home. 

A full obituary will be published at a later time. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
