Obituaries for May 8, 2013

Nash, McCauley

 Rowdy Chief Nash

Formerly of Enterprise

1977-2013

Rowdy Chief Nash, 35, died at his home in Mount Vernon on May 4.

Rowdy was born on June 3, 1977, in Enterprise, grew up in Enterprise and graduated from high school in 1996. On Sept. 7, 1996, Rowdy married his high school sweetheart, Kasey Dawn Rysdam, from Elgin. Together, they had two children: Cutter Chief and Nevada Dawn.

For the past five years, Rowdy lived his dream managing the Widows Creek Ranch. Rowdy was an avid horseman, roper and cattleman. He loved nothing more than for all of his and Kasey’s family to gather at the ranch to help brand, work cows and ride.

However, his greatest fulfillment and joy came from his children. Attending junior and pee-wee rodeos watching Cutter and Nevada compete was the highlight of his life.

Rowdy himself enjoyed competing in rodeos. Never one to back down from a challenge, Rowdy along with his uncle, Todd Nash, won the wild cow milking at the Elgin Stampede. He also was a competitor in the Elgin Stampede Challenge, where he was always a fan favorite. Rowdy had an infectious grin and welcomed anyone who crossed his path.

He was a member of the Baptist church and a believer in Jesus Christ.

Rowdy will forever be remembered as a rancher, husband, devoted father, son, brother, uncle and believer.

Rowdy was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John E. Rysdam III.

Besides his wife and children, Rowdy is survived by his parents, Ken and Annie (Talbot) Nash of Enterprise, brother, Chad and Amy Nash; sister, Chelsie and Justin Gray; mother-in-law, Voleny Rysdam of Elgin; sister-in-law, Dena Rysdam, and her husband, Bill Ledbetter; and sister-in-law Keela Rysdam; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Enterprise Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and another service at the Summerville Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home is handling the
arrangements.
